Our chat with Silver Moon Desserts
Q. How did you come up with the name Silver Moon?
A. I chose the name Silver Moon because I wanted to create a brand that was elegant and somewhat romantic. Because Silver Moon’s line of liqueur-infused ice cream & sorbet is very different than anything else in the ice cream category, we wanted packaging that did not look like any other packaging on the shelves. My specific instruction to the creative team was “no scoops of ice cream.” The black & white 1950s photos of people having a great time are intended to evoke a sense of nostalgia and romance…taking people back to a simpler time.
Q. What were you doing before you started Silver Moon?
A. I have a marketing and entrepreneurial background. I worked for a number of Silicon Valley start-up companies in a marketing and product management capacity.
Q. What inspired you to do liqueur infused ice creams and sorbets?
A. It was a fun product I was creating at home for friends and family. I got such rave reviews that after a while, I started seriously looking into it as a product that I could bring to market.
Q. What kind of reaction have you received from consumers regarding your premium ice creams?
A. We have also received numerous industry awards for our design and packaging.
– 2009 Silver sofi Award for Outstanding Product Line from NASFT
– 2009 Silver Star Winner of the Winter Fancy Foods Show by The Nibble
– 2009 International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA) Communicator Award for Outstanding Packaging
Q. Will you be adding new flavors to your line up?
A. We are launching a Lavender Limoncello sorbet and Bourbon Vanilla Bean ice cream in 2Q of this year.
